Kids Computer Fundamentals Program Overview
Silicon Scholars is a program that happens after school. It is designed to teach students the basics of technology and how to use computers. The program helps students learn important skills for using digital devices, not just mobile phones and tablets. It covers many different topics, including how to use computer programs, how computers work, how to use the internet, how to fix problems, and how to stay safe online. The program focuses on learning by doing, and students can expect to participate in interactive lessons and practice what they learn in real-life situations.
Who We Serve: The program is open to students in grades 4-8 who are interested in learning about technology and computer science.
Duration: Each program lasts for five weeks, and there is one class per week. Each class session is 90 minutes long.
Class Structure: At Silicon Scholars, classes are taught by experienced teachers and include a combination of lectures and practical activities. The main emphasis is on interactive learning in a physical setting, where students can apply their newly acquired skills through various simulations. Additionally, students will be able to use a high-tech remote lab equipped with up-to-date versions of Windows. We purposely limit the number of students in each class to maintain a small group size. This way, every student receives personalized attention and benefits the most from the learning process.

Introducing children to technology early on can cultivate their interest in the subject and establish a strong base for future learning.
